Getting Your Lawn Ready for the Wet Season

A healthy lawn doesn't happen by accident. 🌱

After months of dry conditions, Darwin lawns are heading into one of the biggest changes of the year. The build-up is here, humidity is increasing and the wet season is just around the corner.

Before the rain arrives and your lawn really starts taking off, now is a great time to make sure it's getting the nutrients it needs.

Get Your Lawn Ready to Grow

During the dry season, lawns can take a bit of a beating. Less rainfall, hot temperatures and plenty of sunlight can leave grass looking tired, thin or lacking colour.

As conditions start to change, your lawn is preparing to move into a much more active period of growth.

Giving it the right nutrients now can help support healthy growth, strong roots and good colour as we head towards the wet season.

NPK Blue 12-5-14

One of our go-to fertilisers at Barnyard Trading is NPK Blue 12-5-14.

It's a balanced fertiliser containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, along with magnesium and trace elements to provide your lawn and garden with a broad range of nutrients.

Nitrogen supports healthy green growth and leaf development.

Phosphorus plays an important role in root development and overall plant growth.

Potassium helps support plant strength and general plant health.

NPK Blue also contains magnesium and trace elements, helping provide more than just the basic NPK nutrients.

Don't Wait Until the Rain Arrives

Once the wet season kicks in, lawns can grow incredibly quickly.

Getting your lawn's nutrition sorted before the big growth period can put it in a better position to handle the season ahead.

But fertilising isn't a case of simply throwing down as much as possible. Applying too much can cause problems, particularly if conditions are still hot and dry.

Always follow the recommended application rate and make sure the lawn has enough moisture available.

If you're applying fertiliser before the rain arrives, watering it in properly is important.

Not Sure What Your Lawn Needs?

Every lawn is different.

The type of grass, soil, amount of sunlight, watering and the current condition of the lawn all play a part in determining what it needs.

If you're not sure how much fertiliser to use, or you're not sure whether your lawn is ready for a feed, come in and have a chat with the Barnyard team.

Tell us what you're working with and we'll help you work out what product you need and how much to apply.

Get your lawn ready for the wet.

The rain is coming — and your grass is going to know about it. 🌧️🌱
